Apple is offering members of its .Mac online members a free copy of Aladdin Systems Inc.’s DropStuff utility, a US$30 value, according to the company. DropStuff is used to compress files to make them easier to store or email to friends and family.

The free download will be available to .Mac members until April 13, 2003.

Aladdin is also giving .Mac users a discount on the full version of its compression utility suite, StuffIt Deluxe. The suite of tools includes DropStuff; DropZip (for making .zip files for Windows users); DropTar (for making TAR archives); the ability to search, browse and edit archives without unstuffing them; and Secure Delete, a digital document shredder.

Apple has posted a special link on the .Mac Web site to get StuffIt Deluxe for $39.99, instead of the regular price of $79.99. The offer is good through April 13, 2003.
