Tomtom Clear Flash Tool
  • Item Weight: 2.3kg / 5.0lb (Body+Neck) Package Size:72.5. 48.5. 6.5cm / 28.5. 19.1. 2.6in. Package Weight: 4.2kg / 9.2lb. Note: Electronics are complete and ready for installation-no soldering required, but the electronic parts needs to be mounted on the pick guard so soldering is required.
  • The act of installation (while the unit is connected to the pc) actually does the work of the Clear Flash tool, which sometimes clears the 'cob webs' out of the TT's O/S when settings don't 'stick' and other strange things start to happen. Often suggested to run it 3 times.
  • What device are you referring to if I may ask, please. Login or Register to remove this advertisement Without any further information, it becomes di.
  • Nearly all Tomtom Devices feature 32MB of Memory so it is the most limited resource we have on the device. Rest of hardware edit As shown in the Hardware Variants table from opentom.org there are more features that a Tomtom contain which are not relevant for now.

Possible Solution #2. If your device is rebooting, the map is probably corrupted. If the map is corrupted, you need to run a clear flash tool on your device. Restart the device and connect again. Possible Solution #3. If the first two possible solutions do not solve the rebooting problem, that could mean the memory is faulty.

During my traumatic attempts to install updates on my TT XL (see my post 'PC/XL data transfers very slow ?'), I tried to use the TT clear_flash tool a few times, as suggested by various website discussions, including a forum on the TT server. All that seemed to happen was that 'something' was 'installed' (as shown by the rather primitive 'installer' GUI). It was not clear what was 'installed' on my PC, nor where it might have been put such that I could execute it later. A brief contact with the XL was made at some point during this 'installation', as shown by the 'busy X' popping up on its display for a few seconds, but I don't know why. If anyone has advice on this, I'll be grateful.

  • Well, thanks a lot, that explains it. An odd way to go about providing a user interface, but I suppose it was quick and economical to provide... only a pity that it tells the user nothing about what the tool is doing. Thanks again.
